Jack Gray’s New Track Feels Like a Flashback You Can’t Quite Place

Jack Gray’s new single “Dumb Sh*t” is a hazy, heart-on-sleeve snapshot of youth in all its beautiful recklessness.
Built around laidback acoustic guitars and sharp lyrical detail, the track captures those fleeting moments where everything feels impulsive and alive — staying out too late, laughing too loud, falling in love with the idea of possibility. It’s less about regret and more about recognition: a musical nod to the messy, magic years that shape who we become.
Jack produced the track himself and co-wrote it with Jon Hume and Jillian Shea, finessing thirteen different versions before ultimately returning to the raw energy of the very first. That instinctive choice reflects the heart of the song — trusting the unfiltered version of yourself, even if it’s a little rough around the edges.
The release is paired with a nostalgic, filmic music video shot with close friends in LA. Directed by actors and creatives Bryce Gheisar and Jem Matthews, the visual plays like a memory — sun-soaked, a little chaotic, and full of the kind of moments you don’t realise are golden until they’re already gone.
“Dumb Sh*t” is the first taste of Jack’s long-awaited debut album, a project he's been quietly building over the last year. Written, performed, and produced largely by Jack himself, it promises to be as intimate and layered as the artist behind it — shaped by years of touring, collaborating, composing, and constantly evolving.
If this is the beginning, it’s one worth paying attention to.
Jack joins Daniel Seavey on tour this August across Australia and New Zealand.
