PEACH PRC’S WANDERING SPIRIT LIVE
Words: CHLOÉ WELLS

Braving the first chill of Melbourne’s autumn, Peach PRC’s fans brought the warmth for the start of the artist’s “Wandering Spirit Tour”. The crowd, decked out in faerie attire and pink rain ponchos, was brimming with excitement for Peach’s much anticipated return to stage in her new era.
Transporting the audience from St. Kilda into the whimsical world of bush faeries, Peach wandered onto stage adorned with flower petals on her face and dressed in costuming inspired by the native Australian violet. She opened the show with the song, Piper, an unreleased song off of her upcoming album, Porcelain. She cast a hypnotic spell as she ascended the pole, delivering enchanting vocals, and mesmerising choreography.
Peach’s band consisted of one guitarist and one keyboardist, and herself on vocals. As the show progressed, Peach continued playing new music off of her new record before launching into some of her hits. Peach played into the kitsch with a cheeky introduction to her song, “Forever Drunk”, by having one of her dancers bring out a tray with a water glass on it and asking the audience “Who’s thirsty?”, to which they replied with a roar in anticipation for this crowd favourite. She also notably reimagined a version of her hit song, God Is A Freak. This live version offered more subdued instrumentals and an introspective perspective on this classic, which slotted in well to this new down-to-earth era.
A highlight of the show was Peach’s performance of one of her new singles, Eucalyptus. She connected her beautiful snake plant to a PlantWave, a sensor that turns electrical signals into sound – transforming the song into a duet between her and her plant.
In a heavily anticipated encore, Peach returned to the stage to perform Shirley Barber and a tight, energetic medley of her songs Blondes, Josh, and Like a Girl. This finale got the crowd moving and their blood pumping – the perfect send off before facing the cold and rainy journey back to their homes.
This show gave us a glimpse into who Peach PRC is beyond the pink. As Peach enters this next chapter, she remains authentically herself and is truly cementing herself as a serious Aussie popstar.
